Meeting with Mayor Cassie Franklin Was Terrific!
Thank you for so many people who turned out for the meeting with our new mayor Cassie Franklin. Like I shared at the meeting, a good meeting for us is around 20-25 people. A really good meeting is around 40 people. We exceeded 80! What a great feeling to see connections being made in our neighborhood and across our city. Thanks a bunch! – Kari Quaas, Chair

New Beat Officer Gives Crime Prevention Tips
There’s a new beat officer covering the 11th district here in North Everett. Officer B. Hoelzel is our new neighborhood liaison and will be attending monthly meetings when available.
While at our April neighborhood meeting, Officer Hoelzel reminded us that crime tends to increase during good weather. He gave us plenty of tips for preventing property theft:
**Be aware of potential thefts and prowlers on your property.
Don’t leave windows and doors open while unattended. Keep window and door screens secured.
**Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicles!!!
Lock your car. Hide things before you get to your destination — don’t put your valuables in the trunk after you park (thieves watch for this).
**EPD sells “The Club” at cost (under $20), or check with your insurance agent.
There were some great comments regarding those who currently use this item and it has prevented cars from being stolen.
**Have your neighbors keep an eye out when you are gone.
**See something suspicious, call 911!!!
Providing a detailed description is the best — the color of their jacket is probably not enough.
You can’t be an anonymous caller.
**Community Crime Map is online: http://communitycrimemap.com/
Type in your address and the map will show what kind of crime has been reported in the immediate area.
The session was followed by an informative Q&A session. Other people offered tips such as the use of the Ring doorbell system.
