NW Neighborhood Annual Events

Your annual donations help us host neighborhood events for all to enjoy:

Easter Egg Hunt – The Northwest Neighborhood and Girl Scouts Troop host an annual Easter Egg Hunt for families in the neighborhood. The event takes place on the Saturday preceding Easter and includes an egg hunt and a parade. Over 200 children and their parents participate each year.

Whittier Bike to School Day – This event is in partnership with the Whittier PTA and involves meeting at Drew Nielsen Neighborhood Park and biking with the students safely to their elementary school. It occurs on the same day as Bike Everywhere Day on the third Friday of May.

Neighborhood Clean-up – The Northwest Neighborhood hosts a clean-up opportunity each May at Everett Community College in Lot E. This is an opportunity for residents to get garbage and junk out of their yards so that the neighborhood can maintain its attractive qualities. Dumpsters and recycling are provided at an accessible location in the neighborhood. In the past, we have paired this event with an alley clean-up to assist neighbors close to Broadway. The more volunteers, the farther west we can go!

Mother of All Garage Sales – We host the biggest garage sale in town on the first Saturday of August. Our MOAGS headquarters are at Drew Nielsen Neighborhood Park at 1230 Colby. We have food trucks, maps, and signs all throughout the neighborhood for participating homes. We also seek sponsors to cover costs like portapotties, trash/recycle, all printed maps, flyers, posters and banners, etc.

National Night Out – National Night Out is a major event in our nation. The event provides a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors, the police, firemen, and other city representatives that come to visit our event. The Northwest Neighborhood has occasionally hosted an ice cream social at Drew Nielsen Neighborhood Park. For a list of all events in the city, visit the City of Everett website.

Halloween Decorating Contest – Each fall, we recognize three homes with the following awards – Best Daytime, Best Nighttime, and Overall Best Decorated.

Drew Nielsen Park Clean Up and Improvement – We plant, we prune, we commune. Our aim is to make this little neighborhood park in honor of former neighbor and Everett City Councilman, Drew Nielsen, a relaxing and central point of interaction in Northwest. This event has been in either the spring or fall.

Holiday Decorating Contest – To celebrate the holiday season, we recognize several homes for their holiday decorations with the following categories – Best Daytime, Best Nighttime, Best Overall, Special, Best Small House, etc.

Annual Holiday/Volunteer Appreciation Party – In place of the December meeting, the Northwest Neighborhood plans a social function in a more relaxed atmosphere. We encourage neighbors to get to know one another at this festive event held on the first Saturday of December.

Thanks to our neighborhood volunteers, these events are successful each year. Volunteers are always needed. Interested in lending a hand? Send an email to info@northwesteverett.org.
