NW Neighborhood Annual Events
Dear NW Neighbors, your annual donations help us host neighborhood events for all to enjoy:
Drew Nielsen Park Clean-Up – The Northwest Neighborhood hosts a clean-up opportunity each year at Drew Nielsen Park at 1230 Colby. We clean up, prune, and plant. In 2019, we installed a bike rack at the park and planted some natives. We’ll do more to beautify our park in the spring. Due to COVID-19, this event was postponed until Saturday, September 12, 2020, and then due to smoke it was postponed and did happen on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Easter Egg Hunt – The Northwest Neighborhood and a Girl Scouts Troop host an annual Easter Egg Hunt for families in the neighborhood. The event takes place on the Saturday preceding Easter and includes an egg hunt. Over 200 children and their parents participate each year. It is held at Drew Nielsen Park. Sadly, due to COVID-19, this is not happening in 2020. Photos from the 2018 event.
Whittier Bike to School Day – We partner with the Whittier PTA to host an annual Bike to School Day. On the third Friday in May, we gather at Drew Nielsen Park at 7:30 a.m. to do crafts, grab snacks, quick bike tune-ups, and coffee and donuts. The Everett Police escorts the riders down Hoyt from 13th to 10th, and down 10th from Hoyt to Oakes. Sadly, due to COVID-19, this did not happen this spring. – Photos from the 2019 event
Neighborhood Clean-up – The Northwest Neighborhood hosts a clean-up opportunity each spring. This is an opportunity for residents to get garbage and junk out of your yards so that the neighborhood can maintain its attractive qualities. We are grateful for our partners at Everett Community College for hosting this event in Lot E near Whitehorse Hall. Dumpsters for trash, recycling, electronic recycling, and yard waste are provided. Postponed from spring to until Phase 3 of the reopening plan. Stay tuned for a firm date.
National Night Out – National Night Out is a major event in our nation. The event provides a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors, the police, firemen, and other city representatives that come to visit our event. Please let the City of Everett know if you have an event planned. We hope that you’ll attend another city event. For us, our focus in early August goes to….
Mother of All Garage Sales (M.O.A.G.S.) – If there’s one thing we know how to do in Everett it’s how to have terrific garage sales! Not only is this a chance for garage sale participants to sell their excess wares, but it’s typically a fundraiser for the neighborhood. It’s head annually on the first Saturday in August. More MOAGs Info. MOAGS would typically be Saturday, August 1, 2020, however, the neighborhood is NOT supporting the event this year due to COVID-19’s impacts. Individual homeowners are advised to follow the Safe Start Guidelines.
THANK YOU to our 2019 MOAGS sponsors Lamoureux Real Estate, Ashley Bolden – KW Everett, Scuttlebutt Brewing Company, Brews Almighty, Peoples Bank, All Smiles NW, Farmers Insurance – Cat Soine, Bayside Bikes, Major League Pizza, Chicago Title, Valley Organic Deli, and Salon Enve.
