Plant More Trees Program
Description:
Why do the streets East of Colby look so bare? Did someone run out of trees? Let’s fix this problem on our watch! There is a City Department that will gladly plant trees on your street. For FREE! And you even get to pick out the type of tree you want. What’s not to like?
Progress:
a.) We researched tree planting in the City and learned that there are actually two City Departments that are dedicated to tree planting Roy Harris group which is responsible for planting trees along City streets and Craig Callies group that has responsible for planting trees in our Parks and other areas
b.) We applied to be appointed to the Tree Committee but another NW Neighborhood person was appointed instead.
c.) Roy’s people dropped off about 50 letters that they typically leave on people’s door steps
d.) Devery Rielly has offered to head up this project.
Next Steps:
1.) Devery’s plan is to drop off over 500 fliers in the area East of Colby during the month of March
2.) We need to meet with Devery, Roy, and Lois to discuss a variety of approaches to increase the amount of our street trees.
3.) We need to reach landlords about the tree program as well as tenants.
4.) We need to ask Roy if his tree selection brochure is available on the web.
