2010 Everett Neighborhoods Mini-Grant Information
Neighbors:
As discussed at the January meeting our 2010 mini-grant proposal is due to the office of neighborhoods at the end of February. The requirements for the mini grant can be found in the link below. The application must come from our association; we will be submitting ours after voting on projects at the February meeting.
If you have ideas for potential projects or questions please feel free to submit them via email to nwneverett@gmail.com.

I would like us to consider creating a community garden for the NW Neighborhood. Seattle has many, Everett only a couple, although the Bayside one is nice. I have done alot of research on the idea, and spoken to Wendy McClure about the idea awhile ago. I am envisioning individual plots but also a percentage of the produce going to the Everett Food Bank. I’d also like to see free or reduced lease rates for lower income residents and seniors. Maybe connect neighbors who are younger with older folks who’d like to have fresh produce, but need help to do it. There’s a community garden down in the International District that matches elderly residents with HS students who assist them in their garden plots. A community garden has many possibilities and can be a wonderful magnet for an active community area.
